Personally matched mentors and coaches

We support your child.

And we support you.

We offer more than just guardianship

We know growing up can be exciting but tough.

We know parents too get homesick for their children.

We know that emotional well-being is key to shaping our future.

That is why ALL OF OUR Guardianship Packages include our outstanding Mentoring Programme.

That is why we offer a coaching programme for our parents.

For students:

We offer comprehensive mentorship to help students navigate the challenges of studying abroad. Pre-matched mentors will welcome students with friendship, providing a familiar face and guidance as they settle into life in the UK. These mentors, who share similar interests and hobbies with the students, encourage them to step out of their comfort zones, build social connections, and approach new experiences with confidence.

Our 1:1 Mentoring Programme

How does it work?

  • Mentoring programme comes with all of our guardianship packages.

10 mentoring sessions can be available separately. Please contact us for pricing and further information.

  • The role of a mentor can be immensely influential for individuals in all areas of their lives, but perhaps especially during childhood. As such, our Mentors are selected to join the team after a rigorous screening process.

    1. Mentors must be excellent role models in all areas, from their academic experience to social and life skills.

    2. Mentors must complete a thorough application form which evaluates their experience, competency and suitability for the role.

    3. Mentors must be at least 18 years old and undergo an enhanced DBS screening.

    4. Mentors are interviewed individually by a panel including the Directors and the Designated Safeguarding Lead for Homecamp.

    5. Mentors must complete and pass all safeguarding, coaching and mentoring training modules.

    6. Mentors are evaluated annually and must pass all refresher courses to continue mentoring in the next year.

  • Yes!

Mentor and Mentee matches are made based on our evaluation of the individual Mentee’s profile. Children under Homecamp’s care complete a form that highlights their personality, interests, hobbies and ambitions. With this information, we select a Mentor that may support or enhance the children’s experience whilst studying in the UK.

After the first online Mentor-Mentee meeting, Mentees will be asked for feedback on this match. They have the choice to ask for a different Mentor at this point. They also have the freedom and flexibility to change this match at any other point in time with us at Homecamp.

  • Mentors must complete and pass all training on safeguarding, mentoring and coaching. These courses are verified by official safeguarding organisations and offer the Mentors a certificate of completion and achievement which is reviewed and documented by Homecamp’s Directors.

Mentors are also interviewed individually for final approval of their suitability for the role. All new Mentors must participate in an in-person, group training day with other Mentors. Each year Mentors will undergo refresher training in order to continue mentoring into the next year.

  • All Mentor-Mentee matches will be closely supervised.

Mentors must record a meeting brief after every contact with their mentee, which must be sent to their line manager within 24-hours of each meeting. Mentors also have regular monthly meetings to update line managers on the Mentee’s progress.

Furthermore, Mentors will also have undergone enhanced DBS (the UK’s disclosure and barring service) screening and completed all safeguarding and training modules before any contact with Mentees. Each year Mentors will undergo refresher training in order to continue mentoring into the next year.

For parents:

For parents, our coaching programme provides tailored guidance to help them support their children during this life-changing journey. This peer support from experienced teachers and parents offers reassurance and practical advice, empowering parents to be confident partners in their child's life in the UK.

Parent Coaching

When students travel abroad for their studies, often their parents will feel more homesick for them than vice versa.

The distance between parents and children is not just physical, it can also be emotional and psychological, especially during the often turbulent and rapid developmental stages of adolescence.

If you have any of these questions or concerns:

  • How should I handle this long-distance relationship?

  • What if my child doesn’t contact me or ignores my calls?

  • What are some things I should look out for concerning their well-being?

  • How should I check in with their study progress without being overbearing?

Then feel reassured because Sharing Parenting is here to help!
